Effective August 12, 2026, Colorado House Bill 1342 makes it illegal to knowingly leave food, garbage, or other bear attractants where they’re reasonably likely to draw a bear — no warning required before a citation. Fines reach up to $5,000.
At Jellystone Estes Park, we ask all guests to:
- Store food and coolers locked inside your vehicle or rental unit
- Never leave pet food or dishes outside
- Clean grills after each use
- Take trash to the designated trash receptacle immediately
- Report bear sightings to staff immediately
Protecting local wildlife protects your trip — and keeps you on the right side of the law.
