Camping is one of the most popular outdoor recreational activities in the United States; whether they’re staying in tents, yurts, cabins, or recreational vehicles, Americans all over love to get outside and enjoy Mother Nature. In fact, this activity is so popular that back in 2013, the revenue of campgrounds and RV parks was estimated at around $5 billion.

If you are headed out on a camping trip, even if you are staying in a Jellystone Park, it is important to be as prepared as possible. Here is a list of some supplies not to forget.

Matches: It goes without saying that you can never have too many matches. Having backups is great in case your standby pack gets wet, you lose them, or if finicky ones refuse to light. Plus, you can leave extras with your camping supplies for years to come.
Spices: Camping does not mean your taste buds have to suffer. Throwing some spices into your food supplies will add a kick to your meals and get you looking forward to dinnertime around the fire even more!

Extra blankets and padding for your tent:
Even if you will be in a sleeping bag, you’ll want an additional layer between you and the ground. This can be anything from blankets to tarps to even towels to keep the chill night air out.

Sunscreen: Even if you will be under a canopy of trees, the sun will still be poking through. Your skin needs to be protected at all times, so toss a stick of sunscreen into your bag for easy application on the go.

Board games:
You have to be prepared for rainy days! A few board games, books, crossword puzzles, and coloring books will do the trick.

Flashlights and lanterns: Don’t forget extra batteries! The stars may not be enough to lead your way through a nighttime hike.
Summer is just around the corner, make your reservations today!
